Learning outcomes 5&6
In my chosen work sample I was able to show my ability to do local revisions throughout my draft. I also feel that my MLA improved but still could be bettered in some areas. With my local revisions, I was able to focus on constantly fixing errors I continuously make and preventing them in future projects. My first revisions consisted of something we spoke about in class. In class, we talked about the ability to combine our sentences or simplify them to have a better-flowing essay. The basic idea of this is taking two sentences that are saying similar or the same thing and putting them together. This still gets your point across but doesn’t make your essay come off as listy. Once I read my drafts back I easily find these sentences and combine a lot of them. When I read it back to myself it is easy to find these as I can hear when it doesn’t come off how I intended it to. Local revisions were always something I have been comfortable with however, this semester I have learned more key things I should be focusing on in my revisions. This has led me to become more comfortable and confident in my writing. In terms of MLA that is an area that is still a work in progress for me. I did well to always correctly cite my quotes and properly introduce both authors in their texts in all my essays. I still had trouble with my work cited page which is something that I will continue to work on with the hopes of improving my ability.
